Yeah, developing good habits are really necessary and thats why perhaps we're told to avoid bad stuff in our young age because we may get addicted to them and then it starts to take over our life.

I was involved in Smoking long time back in my childhood days and I clearly remember, in the rush of my blood and seeing other adults smoking and having fun, I smoked one whole packet within an hour or so and my tongue was burning then. I was like I know it's harmful but it may help me lose my excessive weight. At young age, we find comfort in our bad habits and make excuses. I am glad I left it really quick and now I detest those who smoke because I simply hate the smell of ciggs now.

My friends smokes in front of me but I never feel the urge to do it again.

If you get indulged in any activity, ask yourself honestly whether it's good or bad? If you get the answer that it's bad, stop it immediately because if you give it a reason to grow, it may start to have an effect on your life.

And you certainly made the right call, since smoking just wasn't harming you but your father, wife and child as well who shouldn't be paying the price for your bad habits.

Interesting calculation there, you can see how much you spend, nice post. My father used to smoke a lot, but know he almost not smoke any cigarettes.

Hey Matt.
Thanks for the post and those great tool (silkquit). I tried to stop smoking 2 times last year but I haven't had any motivation after two weeks not smoking... but when I looked at your stats I gotta say that's pretty impressive.

This is really interesting because prohibiting your self to do your hobby was really hard thing to do. It really needs a lot of effort and support by the people around you. I like the Cigarette quitting habit picture you posted here. I will copy and print this out to give my office mates some interesting stuffs if they decided to quit smoking.

Thanks Matt! I personally went the patch route to get me through the run-random-pedestrians-down portion of nicotine withdrawal... ;) Definitely one of the best decisions I have made!
